Course Introduction

This course is designed for young adults and school leavers who are about to step into independent life — whether that means starting a first job, moving out, or simply taking control of their own money for the first time. It fills the practical gap most school curricula leave behind: how to bank, budget, file tax, build credit, invest responsibly, and manage the everyday admin of adult life.

The course is localised for South Africa — covering SARS registration and eFiling, local banks, the National Credit Act, and POPIA — while also highlighting financial and life principles that hold true worldwide, so students carry transferable knowledge wherever life takes them.

How this course is structured

The course is made up of twelve modules. Each module includes:

  • Core content — the concepts and practical knowledge you need to understand.
  • A practical activity — a short, hands-on exercise to apply what you've just learned.
  • A knowledge check — five single-choice questions per module, delivered separately in the accompanying Question Bank so you can track your own progress.

This course includes

12 self-paced online modules, designed for school leavers and young adults entering independent life.

Fully localised to South Africa - SARS registration & eFiling, SA banks, National Credit Act, POPIA and JSE listed investment options.

Universal financial principles flagged throughout, so knowledge stays relevant even if students study, work, or emigrate abroad.

Practical, hands-on lesson activities in every module - build a realistic budget, explore a simulated SARS eFiling process, and create a mock investment portfolio.

Covers the full journey to independence: banking, tax, credit, investing, insurance, housing, employment and everyday consumer protection.

Capstone project: students leave with their own complete personal financial plan, not just theory.

No prior financial knowledge required - built for absolute beginners.
